Hatfield McCoy connected trails

Wild Willy's ATV Rezort is located in the heart of Hatfield McCoy's Indian Ridge Trail system and you can ride your ATV directly to the trails from our cabins.  The connectors to both Pocahontas Trails and Pinnacle Creek Trails are just a short ride away.  With the addition of these connectors, visitors to Wild Willy's can access over 200 miles of linked riding trails as well as the Warrior Trail.  The Warrior trail system is the latest addition to Hatfield McCoy Trails. 

 

The maps on the left show how the three Hatfield McCoy Trails closest to Wild Willy's ATV Rezort are connected.  Our location is directly in the center of the linked riding area.  This location offers the very best access to the entire southern trail systems and eliminates riding miles of the same trail every day to reach something new.

 

Below you will find information about the individual Hatfield McCoy Trail systems located in our area.  

Trails

Indian Ridge

The Indian Ridge Trail System is located near Ashland, WV.  Indian Ridge consists of approximately 65 breathtaking miles of trails. This Trail System also has a trail connector that links to the Pinnacle Creek Trail System and the Pocahontas Trail System. Trail visitors can ride legally with direct trail access on the connector between the Indian Ridge and Pinnacle Creek Trail or the Pocahontas Trail. The Indian Ridge Trail System has one trailhead with a two-acre parking area and restrooms. This trail offers a nice variety of trails for all difficulty levels and some beautiful scenic views on the mountaintops that will take your breath away! 


The breakdown in trail mileage and percentage for this trail system are as follows: 18 miles or 30% are green trails (easiest), 25.5 miles 41% blue (more difficult), 12.7 miles or 20% black (most difficult), .5 miles or 1% red/black (extremely difficult), and 5.6 miles or 8% are orange trails (single track). 


This trail system offers community access to the Town of Northfork and the Town of Keystone. Nearby communities offer fuel, food, and lodging accommodations.  Indian Ridge is directly in the center of the southern trails trio offering the best access to riders of all three trail systems: Indian Ridge, Pinnacle Creek & Pocahontas.

Pocahontas

The Pocahontas Trail System connects to Indian Ridge via Trail 15.
Most noted for..... one third of the largest continuous areas of the HMT network along with Pinnacle Creek and Indian Ridge trail systems and connectors.   Pocahontas is also know for historic former millionaire town of Bramwell where it's trailhead is located.  
Percentage breakdown of trails by difficulty rating are as follows;  Easiest (Green):  22%, More Difficult (Blue):  47%, Most Difficult (Black):  22%, Most Difficult (Red/Black):  3%, Single Track (Orange):  6%.  


The Pocahontas trail system is the nearest HMT trail to the I-77 Turnpike.  The trailhead is located at 174 Simmons Ave. Bramwell, WV 24715 (lat N 37 19 40, long W 81 18 47).  Plans are for renovations to begin on the trailhead facility sometime in 2014.  The trailhead site currently has a 2+ acre parking lot and onsite portable restrooms.  Pocahontas Trail connects to the community of Bramwell, WV.

Pinnacle Creek
Pinnacle Creek

The Pinnacle Creek Trail System connects to Indian Ridge via Trail 20/27.  Most noted for..... one third of the largest continuous areas of the HMT network along with Pocahontas and Indian Ridge trail systems and connectors.   Pinnacle Creek is also know for it's scenery and proximity to Twin Falls State Park (15 miles) as well as skiing and whitewater rafting (within 1 hour). 


Percentage breakdown of trails by difficulty rating are as follows;
Easiest (Green):  33%, More Difficult (Blue):  41%, Most Difficult (Black):  8%, Most Difficult (Red/Black):  10%, Single Track (Orange):  8%,  
Trailhead:  Located at 2733 Pinnacle Road, Pineville, WV 24874 (lat 37.55580, long -81.50793)


Has a 2+ acre parking lot, staffed trailhead, on site restrooms, permits & merchandise.  Pinnacle Creek Trail connects to the communities of Pineville, WV and Mullins, WV.

Warrior

The Warrior Trail is the newest Hatfield McCoy Trail system.  Warrior is a stand-alone trail system located near the southern trio or Indian Ridge, Pinnacle Creek and Pocahontas Trails.  Although it is not linked directly by trail, the Warrior Trail system can be accessed from Wild Willy's ATV Rezort without trailering. 

 

The Warrior Trail is located in the City of War which is West Virginia’s most southern city. This trail system also accesses the ATV-friendly City of Gary. The Warrior Trail System offers numerous scenic views and has direct access to gas, foods and lodging.

Percentage breakdown of trails by difficulty rating are as follows;
Easiest (Green):  52%, More Difficult (Blue):  34%, Most Difficult (Black):  8%, Most Difficult (Red/Black):  3%, Single Track (Orange):  3%,
